February Newsletter February is now upon us and the students have settled back into their routines. We will be very busy this month as we are putting together the Valentine's day Celebration that will take place on the 14th at 9:15am in the gym. In addition, we are blessed to have the CWL ladies coming in this month to teach the students about the Rosary and we will even learn how to make a rosary! This will run every other Thursday morning starting on the 9th.
Please remember that the 3rd week of February is very busy. On the 20th there is no school because of the Family Day holiday. There is also no school on the Thursday and Friday due to Teacher's Conference!
Agendas will go home daily and I expect that you will read your child’s agenda with them and then initial by the corresponding day. Any notes and important information will be sent with the agenda.
Here is what we will be doing during the month of January:
Religion
Religion will be integrated into all aspects of school including all subjects.
Science
We will be doing electricity and magnetism while incorporating mechanisms into it.
Social Studies
We will be studying each what culture means and how the canadian culture differs in each part of the country.
Math
We will continue with the basic facts (adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing) while moving into the area of fractions and decimals. Please continue to have your child practice their multiplication tables up to 10 X 10 so that they are confident and able to complete them quickly which will make their other work easier.
French
In French we are finishing a biography. Throughout this process we will explore different ways to write as well as using verbs (imparfait) as well as nouns and pronouns. We will focus more on verbs, adjectifs and adverbs.
English
English is taught by Mrs. Cunningham
Music
Music is taught by Mme Klassen.
Health
Health will be taught by Mme. King
Physical Education
Phys. Ed. is taught by Mrs. Masikewich
Please remember that Mrs. Masikewich has asked the students to now start changing for Phys. Ed. so that they are ready for middle school. This includes either shorts (of appropriate length) or sweat pants and a t-shirt that is appropriate for school. (tank tops or spaghetti strap shirts are not considered appropriate.)
